Picture This...

I am not really what sure what to say about the fact that  it has been three years since I have last posted anything...ANYTHING! Life happens I suppose, my card making is nearly non existent, I do scrap and create altered items thanks be to the county fair and my love contributing to it. Speaking of loves, books photography and my children are on my tops (after my hubby of course!). There are so many fun pictures I want to display in a special way and I have more books that I will not reread again so I thought why not create a frame from a book, this book.

Really not to appealing to look at without the fun cover I admit so I got out my stash and got to work. I glued all the outer pages together along with the back cover to create stability. I splattered, stamped ( Close To Heart Stamp Sets),  scraped on and off layers and layers of acrylic paints til I was satisfied. Cutting out the window was no easy feat but I got it done and used layers of ribbon to cover up mishaps from the blade and to give dimension to this normally flat surfaced object. Like all of you, I have a huge stash of embellishments just waiting patiently to find that perfect placement. I even came upon some alphabet
rubons to my delight. Here is the end result:

My daughter used to come home with huge bouquets of dandelions, it was the sweetest gesture ever. Sadly my little girl is no longer little but she still makes me bouquets at 14 of my prized flowers but I love the gesture all the same. She also passionately reads books which makes my heart even happier...

Here is a side detail of the book newly titled "MY GIRL".

Finally here is the back of my new frame, I am really happy with this project.
Thanks for stopping bye!

I thought I might due some challenge searching so I popped over to Paper Playful her are a few challenges I found:

The Artistic Stamper anything goes with rubber stamping
Rhedd's Creative Spirit anything goes mixed media

I wish I could take credit

for what I am about to share with you
but alas it just isn't so!
Several weeks back I was scoping out some new blogs and there was this beautiful butterfly pendant that I fell in love with. The coolest thing was it was created from aluminum cans, die cuts and alcohol inks. It just so happens I have most of the things needed to create this.
I affixed the butterfly to a piece of slate that I had previously stamped
with flourishes and the word dream.
I forgot about these watch bits and bobs, so glad I found them as
it sort of adds some Steampunk flair
It's rather large so I decided to wear it in my hair as well as my daughter.
My darling daughter just also happens to be wearing a funky skirt I made out of old
ties. It used to be mine about 20 years so I've altered it several times to ensure she could keep wearing it.
So I just want to say THANK YOU to who ever that  amazing blog that was!
Have a great Thursday

Trying something new

Happy Monday!
I have a zany project to share today, I guess you could call it a sculptural painting.
This years county fair them is "Go Green", so I pulled out aluminum cans, cardboard and a used aluminum cookie sheet to create this little ditty.
I snuck some hardware from the hubby too but that's a secret! (wink-wink)
There's about 10+ coats of acrylic paint on
this 8x20 inch canvas to give it
a futuristic yet rustic look.
Scrounging through my old supplies, I found
Making Memories booklet of "Mixed Font" that I used for the wording.
I love this look & hope you do to!

That boys got brains

Well good afternoon to you! Thank you for all the thoughtful welcome back gestures you are just too kind! Life is so fun right now, I forgot how great it feels to craft your time away...
I'd like to share this layout of Oscar, he is obsessed with tuning everything into a hat of some sorts and this baseball Easter basket was no exception.
After taking a deep breath, I pulled out my Bam Pop papers. It's really hard to use the papers because they are so fun and crazy I just hoard (Use It Tuesdays) them instead.  This dp has cute little ninguins(Ninja Penguins?) all over it. Pam pop also created a great stamp set of these little guys so I pulled out some black card stock and stamped them in white to create my own dp.(Papertake Weekly) So what do you think of Washi Tape? (Catered Crop) This another item rarely used but there three strips of green spotted (Love to Create)tape on every corner of this layout. Well I hope you like it thanks for stopping by!

Is there anybody out there?

Hello hello hello hello hello...
Yes that is the sound of me
 talking into an empty cave
 of my blogging buddies.
It has been nearly 7 months
 since my last posting!
With only 3 weeks until
school starts back up,
I felt it was now or never!
So what exactly have I been
doing you ask?
Bowling, swimming, biking
gardening, watching movies
yelling screaming shouting
you name it!
Just no paper crafting until now.
Here is a card for my nieces'
upcoming birthday.
I used a Tiddly Ink Digi
that was colored well over
 a year ago...seriously!
(click for larger image)
 (inside of card)

So there you have it in the future
I hope to share more layouts than cards.
  I am years behind with
all three of my kiddos photos.
Yesterday they we all really
engrossed in their scrapbooks
reading all the captions to each other.
They asked me when I was going
to make more books so my goal
 is to make more books!
Thanks for stopping bye!

It's Day 9...

Happy Saturday!
You hopefully noticed the blinkie on my side bar
in reference to the
14 Days of YNS Holiday Fun.
If you have missed any of the days
you will be giving yourself
a big treat by going back to day one!
Karen has done a fantastic job with
these new releases. She asked me to help out this month
because her release is huge!
I am lucky enough to share
Isn't she great?
I don't follow Hockey with exception to a single
match every few years. My kids however
love these Bey Blades I used as props
so I pulled out a tiny metal lunch box
distressed the heck out of it
and altered it.
What do you think of the
brown Corduroy?
I recycled it from a pair of my
kids hole-in-the-knee pants.
I Mod Podged the back of the fabric
to stiffen it up and used my
rectangular spellbinders as the die.
Now they can keep all there metal tips
in one place with style.
By the way
Anything But A Card
Is the YNS Challenge right now
so you can bet I'll be entering this.
Thanks for stopping by!
