To pray or prey...

The Praying Mantis is my absolute most favorite bug their whole demeanor demands respect! This Lady mantis, for instance is quite magnificent not to mention rather large. I believe she's 4-5 inches and her abdomen full of eggs I'd surmise. Only time will tell! I believe we have about three of these in our yard and many dwarf versions as well, they are splendid bug eaters though it's gruesome to witness. Hey we all gotta eat! Well I'm off to paint my kiddos room some more but I'll post some cards later tonight...Beth

It has been the year for HUGE mantises here, too. My daughter freaked out when she saw one not long ago. I was really afraid the neighbors would call 911 the way she was screaming. And I was trying so hard not to laugh because, like you, I think they are very cool.

Oh, that is one big bug. I love nature, but don't really want it crawling on me. Kind of amazing that the mantis was not scared of your daughter. But then I know less than nothing about them.

Fantastic, must show my hubby when he gets home as he just adores anything 'buggy'. I can't believe you have these out in your yard - I wonder what my cat would make of them in his garden???? Jo x
